Current Appointment

Dr. Parminder J Singh is an Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon based in East Melbourne, Australia and is a Member of the Hip Arthroscopy Australia Group. He has an interest in Hip and Knee Arthroscopy and Joint replacement surgery. Parminder is currently performing his surgery at St Vincent's Private East Melbourne, Epworth Richmond Private Hospital, Epworth Eastern Private Hospital and Bellbird Private Hospital. In addition to his surgical commitments, Parminder is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Monash University in Melbourne, Director of Orthopaedic Research and Education at Eastern Health and is on the Editorial Subcommittee for the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy.

Surgical Training

Dr. Parminder J Singh was born in the United Kingdom and qualified as a doctor St George's Hospital Medical School in London in 1996 obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. Following this he completed a surgical training programme in London and obtained his membership to the Royal College of Surgeon (MRCS) in 2001. Parminder subsequently undertook a Research Registrar position for two years providing supportive research on the design and early clinical evaluation of new hip replacements and completed his Master of Surgery (MS) thesis at the University of London under the supervision of Professor Richard Field. Parminder was appointed onto the prestigious Oxford Specialist Registrar Orthopaedic Training Programme in 2003 and completed his Orthopaedic Training in 2008 obtaining his Fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr & Orth). Whilst completing his Orthopaedic training in Oxford, he was also an Honorary Oxford Student Lecturer appointed by the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and was also the Oxford University Varsity Soccer match doctor.

Fellowship Training

Dr. Parminder J Singh has been interested in both bone and muscle sparing surgery for many years. Parminder undertook two fellowships in this particular area of surgery in Melbourne and London. In 2008 to 2009, Parminder completed a Hip Arthroscopy and Anterior Muscle Sparing Total Hip Replacement Fellowship in Melbourne with one of the highest volume hip arthroscopy surgeons in the world Dr John O'Donnell (President of the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy 2013-2014).  In 2009, Parminder went to the UK to undertake his second fellowship. The fellowship was completed at the Elective Orthopaedic Centre (EOC) in Epsom. The EOC was the highest volume elective joint replacement centre in the United Kingdom. The fellowship was in Hip Arthroscopy and Bone Conserving Joint Replacement Surgery with Professor Richard Field. Dr. Parminder Singh was appointed a Consultant at the Elective Orthopaedic Centre in 2009 working closely with Professor Richard Field. In 2010 Parminder migrated with his family to Melbourne in 2010 and obtained his Fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons of Australia (FRACS) in 2012.

Dr. Parminder J Singh has a special interest Hip and Knee Arthroscopy and Joint Replacement, Implant Development, Research and Education since 2001. Parminder has published his own textbook "100 cases in Orthopaedics and Rheumatology", is currently an Editor of the Oxford textbook of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, Section Editor for Hip Surgery and published a book on Hip Arthroscopy. In addition, Parminder published his research findings in peer review scientific journals and a number of book chapters in prestigious textbooks such as Bailey and Love. Parminder remains an active reviewer of scientific papers for British Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.



Dr. Parminder Singh regularly presents at a National and International Orthopaedic Scientific Meetings and has been an active Faculty member co-running Instructional Hip Arthroscopy courses for Orthopaedic Surgeons and Physiotherapists in Melbourne Australia since 2009.
